F2 Inventory

Inventory feature not recommended for Store Operations and QuickSell Commerce. Call for details.

Before beginning your inventory, make sure you upload inventory to Apex. (See "Upload Inventory To Apex). Once the upload to the Apex is complete, follow these steps to complete your inventory.

  1. Press "F2".

  2. You will now be in the sub menu for Inventory. Press the <Enter> button.

  3. If you wish to print labels while inventorying you would make your selection now.

  4. Press <N> for no labels.

  5. Press <B> for a barcode label.

  6. Press <P> for a price label.

  7. You are now ready to scan or manually type in a UPC #. Press <Scan> to scan a UPC#.

  8. The display will now show you the quantity on hand.

  9. You now have the opportunity to change your on hand quantity. Enter in the new quantity and press <Enter>. If no quantity is entered and you press <Enter> the default will be zero.

  10. You’re now ready to scan the next item.

  11. While inventorying the store, you may come across the same items in different areas of your store. Keep in mind that the quantity on hand being displayed is the quantity downloaded from the QuickSell®/Store Ops database, not the quantity already inventoried. The Apex will total all the items together when downloaded.

  12. Once you have completed the area you are working on, you will need to download your changes to the database.

  13. Insert the Apex into the Communication Cradle

  14. Return to the Windows Desktop

  15. Double Click on the Icon for "Update Inventory From Apex".

  16. The program will run.

  17. "Make Sure the Unit Is Docked and Turned On" message will appear.

  18. Turn the Apex ON if necessary and click <OK> .

  19. If you get an error message that says "Communication Failed" the Apex probably was not on when you clicked <OK> (SEE BELOW)

  20. You will hear a beep and the transfer of items will begin.

  21. You will know it is working because shortly after the second beep the Apex screen will display "Receiving File".

  22. Remember the process can take from 5 to 20 minutes depending on size of the database.

When finished, the program will close and the Apex will beep and return to the Main Menu.

Please note: If this procedure is being done while the store is open, your on hand quantities will be changing based on sales or receiving in the QuickSell/Store Ops database. When the Apex is downloaded the records that have been changed will overwrite the current on hand quantities in the QuickSell/Store Ops database. This procedure is best done after hours. Or, while working on small areas that you can track items sold while setting levels.

If the Apex gave a "Communication Link Failed " message, click <OK> on the error message and repeat from step 14. The Apex probably turned off before you clicked <OK> to the "Make Sure the Unit Is Docked and Turned On" message. Remember the Apex turns itself off after about a minute of not being used to conserve battery life.
