3.)Why do I need it?

The solution saves time during the receiving, inventory and setting inventory levels process.  For receiving, it allows you to count and label your product in one step.  No more price gun.  For inventory, it allows you to count on the shelf quantities and place them into your database in one step.  For setting levels, it allows you to walk the store and adjust reorder quantities with out having go back to the computer until your all done.

Yes, the Apex II and Zebra printers are designed to be used in a warehouse environment.  The Apex II can withstand a 6 foot drop onto concrete.

5.)Is it live or online with my inventory?

No, the Apex II works with a capture of your database.  Typically, you would do a data upload before starting.  That ensures you have the most recent item information.  This capture of the database works great for receiving and setting levels.  For physical inventory of your store, you would typically do this after hours or in small sections to ensure that no merchandise is sold between downloads.

6.)Why do I need to print UPC labels?

The portable data solution can print scan-able bar code labels on demand or for each item.  This is helpful because it speeds up the amount of time it takes inventory to get labeled and to the shelf.  The labels can also be disabled.  The Zebra printer is not a required piece of equipment if you don't have a need for bar code labels or wish to print them direct from the PC..

7.)Who do I buy the labels from?

Labels can be purchased from Zebra Technologies in large quantities and from us in smaller quantities.  The labels are standard thermal and are probably available from other companies.

10.)What can I do with the Receiving function?

With the receiving function you can save time in your receiving process.  When an order arrives you enter the purchase order number generated by Store Operations and begin scanning the products.  When you scan a product, you will be asked the quantity.  After you enter the quantity, the corresponding number of labels will print out.  You have just counted and labeled in one step.  When done, you place the Apex in the communication cradle and run the custom software.  This places the quantities received into the purchase order.  At this point, you are ready to reconcile any outstanding discrepancies.  A trouble report will also print for you any items that were not on the purchase order.

11.)After I download my receiving, is it in my inventory?

No, after downloading it is placed in the purchase order.  After you reconcile with your vendor's invoice, you then commit the purchase.  Committing the purchase order updates your on hand quantities.
